Managing Outliers

Your data may contain extreme values that could distort your results. For example, you might have several items with cycle times exceeding 300 days, which can skew average calculations. Provided the cause of these unusually large cycle times is understood, it is safe to exclude such items from your calculations. To accomplish this, simply input a value of 300 days in the maximum days field on the Delivery Flow Settings admin page as illustrated in Figure 1 below.

To exclude extremely small items, input a value in the minimum days field. This field accepts fractions of a day as valid values. For instance, entering 0.5 will exclude any cycle time less than half a day.
